15-16 October 2022 – Big Apple Weekend

There are some key routines that every Lindy Hopper should know about, and have a go at. This is one of the best. THE BIG APPLE ROUTINE.

We are talking here about the version seen in the 1939 film ‘Keep Punching’. We would absolutely love to have some local dancers who would run to the floor and join in when the Big Apple music started playing. There is no escape, it’s a long routine with plenty of content but it’s a whole lot of fun. Keeping these classic routines alive, relies on us all learning and loving them.

We will do our very best to teach you as close to the historic choreography as we are able. Because it’s such an impressive routine, we want to teach it over a weekend: 13:00 – 16:30 on Saturday and Sunday. 3 hours of teaching each day, with half an hour split into rest breaks.

To make it as accessible as possible, we will also be teaching the jazz steps used in the routine in our bonus classes on a Wednesday night through September and early October. You don’t need to do these to do the weekend, but it will help you be more confident with your Jazz when it comes to putting together the routine.
